This is the first year we've had a fire pit, and I think we'd all agree it was a great Father's day gift :) I'm not sure how much we'll use it in the winter, maybe more than I think!
Just in case, we had one "last" marshmallow roast...
Ryleigh has to be the sweetest big sister on the planet. She has perfected the roasting, and is willing to share with the little brothers who usually end up with charred, smoking pieces of nastiness.
The best part is that after the kids go to bed, we can go back down and just relax. We can sit peacefully and talk, or do nothing. OR, we can watch our neighbors...which is usually pretty entertaining. We live in a true melting pot of a neighborhood. We've got elderly, college-age, young families, and more nations represented than I can count. It makes for good people watching, especially at night. Kind of creepy stalker-ish, when I write it out like that :) It's something I think we'll miss if we ever move. Or, something we'll seek out in our next neighborhood, if we can. I love that my kids play with kids named Sudiere and Penion along with Maddie and Josh.
Easily, the best way to camp in a tent is in the basement. No bugs, a lot less scary, and when the littlest brother (who's wearing his undies to bed for the first time) wets his sleeping bag everyone can just move upstairs to their beds :)
And, there's the possibility of a movie playing outside your tent door!
